At Tokyo Game Show 2022, Capcom confirmed a new platform for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake and confirmed a special showcase next month.
Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game were also not announced, which is surprising since the game will be available on PS4.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is officially coming to PlayStation 4, with more information about the game coming at a special showcase Capcom will hold in October. Resident Evil 4 remake has been rumored It’s been around for years, but Capcom finally made an official announcement about the project this past June. After announcing the Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom has also confirmed a March 24, 2023 release date and that the title will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Capcom didn’t mention older consoles, and a lot of people assumed the Resident Evil 4 remake would be a niche, next-gen single release. On the one hand, this means that the Resident Evil 4 remake will not be hampered by the limitations of older hardware, but on the other hand, it means that some gamers will simply miss out if they no PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
However, Capcom has now confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 remake will also be available on PlayStation 4 at launch. Capcom confirmed as much during its Tokyo Game Show 2022 showcase, but didn’t showcase the PS4 version of the game during the event. Those wanting to see more of this remake will have to tune in for a special Resident Evil showcase in October, although a specific date and time for that event has not been announced.
Resident Evil 4 will launch on March 24, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Besides confirming the Resident Evil 4 Remake for PS4 at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom also reminded fans of some other content from their survival horror franchise. At the forefront of this upcoming content is the Resident Evil Village DLC due out on October 28. The Winters expansion for Resident Evil Village will reveal more upcoming pieces of Rose Story.
Capcom also mentioned new ways Resident Evil fans will be able to play Resident Evil Village in the near future. This includes the cloud version of Resident Evil Village coming to the Nintendo Switch, as well as a VR version of the game in the works for Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset. It will be interesting to see what else Capcom has in store for Resident Evil fans after the October rollout.
