Lycoris Recoil is back with a much more playful anime episode and there’s something of a surprise hit ahead.

The fourth volume of Lycoris Recoil just came out and the original A-1 Pictures anime took a playful and innocent approach in this episode. That’s not to say there isn’t any gripping action, however, and an interesting plot piece is starting to unfold a third of the way in the series.
The anime takes place in a world where orphaned girls are taught to become Lycorises, a form of control over crime and violence. There are political intrigues, crimes, and secrets hidden behind the adorable anime girls who star in this series. The anime series offers short intros via news or side chat, encouraging viewers to put the pieces together for themselves. Audiences are introduced to a fascinating cast of characters, a mysterious organization, and a quaint cafe that hides its real business behind the business. Anime is filled with intrigue, action, and touching moments.
Daily life at LycoReco
The episode opens for Inoue and Chisato at a shooting range, where after a few misses Inoue complains about her hit rate not being enough. The next scene follows when Kurumi and Mika are watching them through the computer screen. Later, it was reported that this shooting range was located in the basement of LycoReco cafe.
After the opening song ended, the story was greeted with shouts from inside the cafe. Inoue finds out this is Chisato failing in a VR game. Chisato then forces Inoue to play the VR first-person shooter game she just played. Inoue wins the fight for Chisato. The scene then goes to Fuki and Sakura, who are revealed to be the player Inoue is up against, referencing the events of previous episode.
Meanwhile, Chisato asks Kurumi if she’s ever seen Inoue’s panties, while reminiscing about the time when she accidentally got a flash while Inoue was playing a VR game. She then ran up to Inoue speedily to double-check the bottom of her skirt to make sure her eyes weren’t deceiving her; Inoue was wearing shorts, no panties. Chisato tells Inoue about wearing men’s underwear, but discovers that Inoue has never been independent so she doesn’t know what to buy for herself, and asks Mika what her favorite item is. After that, Chisato invites Inoue to go panties shopping the next day, to show her what girls usually wear.
Shopping for underwear
The next day, Chisato is seen standing by the train station. Inoue appears in baggy, masculine clothes after once again consulting Maki. Chisato sympathizes with her, and her lack of attraction to fashion is part of Lycoris’ training. The scene quickly changed to Kurumi looking at guns online. She realized the market had changed since the deal, so the weapons weren’t being stolen from the black market as originally hypothesized.
Back in Chisato and Inoue, they were shopping for clothes. Chisato drags her into a lingerie store, where Inoue is confused as to why the aesthetic of lingerie is so important to her job. After Chisato repeatedly pestered her to choose a pair, Inoue dragged her into the changing room and told her to show off her panties to prove that she values the aesthetic of lingerie as much as she does. she was on top of Inoue.
After embarrassing themselves, Chisato and Inoue buy underwear and go for a midday snack. Once again, Inoue undermined Chisato’s poor food choices. After arguing, Chisato noticed a couple behind them speaking French, and ran over to talk to them, seemingly fluent. Meanwhile, Inoue sneaks a bite of the food she criticizes Chisato for taking.
Owl necklace
Back at LycoReco, Kurumi rigged a VR headset to walk her through the virtual version of the weapons deal from the first episode. However, Kurumi was unable to identify who was primarily responsible for the deal. Back in Inoue and Chisato, the girls have now reached an aquarium. Inoue reprimanded Chisato for drawing too much attention to herself, before asking her about the time when she protected the tower.
The conversation turns to Chisato explaining why she doesn’t want to kill anyone; She doesn’t want to take their time. Inoue was shocked at this answer, and the girls continued to speak. Chisato briefly mentions that she left DA because she was looking for someone, before pulling out an owl necklace. As we know so far, the owl has become a popular symbol for Alan’s group. To lighten the mood, Inoue jumped to the center of the floor and started the silly jokes she reprimanded Chisato for, much to Chisato’s delight, joining in.
The scene then switches to Mika, who is sitting at a bar surrounded by an aquarium. He was sitting with Shinji Yoshimatsu, the mysterious blond man from Alan’s group. Mika asks if he is here for Chisato, however, Yoshimastu is quick to say that she doesn’t miss him, referring to Yoshimatsu as the one who gave Chisato the necklace.
This is later confirmed by Mika, who asks him why he didn’t tell Chisato who he is, reminding Yoshimatsu how long Chisato has been searching for the man who gave her the necklace. Changing the subject, Yoshimatsu asked Mika if he would keep his “Promise”, and Mika confirmed that he did not elaborate further on what a promise was.
Ga Tàu Shenanigans
The scene shifts to a man with messy platinum blonde hair and a pompous long coat hobbling through a train station. Following him were two grunts with a black duffel bag. Many of these grunts appeared out of the shadows to meet the strange man in the abandoned train station. This mysterious man opens a duffel bag and reveals the weapon inside.
As the two girls’ date enters the evening, Chisato and Inoue realize that they are surrounded by other Lycorises. There are guards outside the train station, which is where the blond man is receiving his weapon. The angry man ordered all his minions to take up their weapons and shoot at the train that had just begun to pass, bringing it to a halt. He was irritably shocked to see the ship empty, as several Lycorises rushed out and began shooting at them.
More Lycorises are revealed to be on board, and they all start shooting at them. The ringleader tried to run away, then detonated bombs to blow up the train station while he was away. Outside the station, Inoue starts running towards the explosion only for Chisato to remind her that she is wearing everyday clothes and could be arrested if she pulls out her gun. Inoue reluctantly left.
The next day, Chisato throws away all of Inoue’s men’s shorts to make room for the ones they bought the day before. Curious, Chisato used Inoue’s shorts to see what comfort was. She immediately realized why Inoue liked them and started walking around freely, only to be caught by Mizuki. Mika gets a phone call about weapons as soon as the episode ends.
