Recently, Riot introduced to all fans League of Legends a cinematic called ‘Hop On’. This is considered as an introductory cinematic for Riot’s upcoming Lunar Revel event
The Cinematic for Lunar Revel 2023 comes just a day after Riot failed to deliver a cinematic that lived up to fan expectations of introducing a new ranked season. Traditionally, every League season is preceded by a champion-centric cinematic, creating hype and excitement for the opening of the ranking ladder at the start of the new year. This year, however, fans were disappointed to see a cinematic that didn’t meet the standards that Riot’s previous work had previously set, if not worse.

The fan reaction to yesterday’s 2023 cinematic was extremely harsh, Riot’s official Twitter account was forced to apologize to fans and players, claiming ‘unprecedented situations’ yes’ is the reason the trailer is relatively lackluster.

Earlier today, after launching a new cinematic called ‘Hop On’, Riot received even more criticism. The majority of fans weren’t happy with the release of the trailer, especially since the new trailer related to Lunar Revel was only meant to promote an in-game event and a new line of skins. Social media comments, including comments from fans in the YouTube comments section, have criticized Riot for prioritizing skin sales over real investment in what audiences want to see. ‘More effort was put into an event than a trailer for the entire season… this really shows what Riot is all about.’ – said one LoL fan in the video’s comments.
