Riot Games indeed did not remove the 4-star Heimerdinger in season 9.5, but the conditions to own this powerful unit are unbelievably difficult.
A few days ago, the TFT community couldn’t help but be excited when they discovered that the 4-star Heimerdinger was still appearing in season 9.5. The reason comes from the fact that the Yordles race (the condition to raise a general to 4 stars) was removed in season 9.5 but the “feature” mentioned above still exists.
At that time, some players speculated that this could be an “easter egg” that Riot intentionally installed into TFT to make season 9.5 more interesting. The reason is because Riot often has a habit of creating special interactions for 5-cost and 3-star champions in previous seasons.
And then when season 9.5 officially launched, whether Heimerdinger could be upgraded to 4 stars was still a big question mark for the gaming community. To resolve this question, the Director of the TFT project – Riot Mortdog himself confirmed that the above “feature” of Heimerdinger is real.
However, the conditions for players to upgrade this general to 4 stars in season 9.5 are relatively “strict”. Specifically, the player must own both Poppy and a 3-star Heimerdinger on the field to be able to push the Brilliant Inventor to the 4-star level.

This is an extremely difficult condition because Poppy is a 1-money champion and Heimerdinger costs 5 coins. Players must have extremely high “dignity” or own many Cloning Machines to bring both of these characters to 3 stars.
Of course, the trade-off for those difficult conditions is the destructive power of the 4-star Heimerdinger. Perhaps this special interaction deserves to be among the most interesting “easter eggs” that Riot Games has ever included in TFT.
