RoboCop: Rogue City released a teaser trailer today, revealing some images and a look at the game’s gameplay.
RoboCop has a surprisingly long list of licensed video games tied to the franchise. From developer Data East’s RoboCop in 1988 to the 2014 free-to-play shooter RoboCop, there’s a lot of gaming legacies associated with this cyborg character. RoboCop: Rogue City announced in mid-2021 must not only live up to that legacy, but also find a way to connect a new generation with a 1987 action movie. The trailer introduces the latest gameplay for RoboCop. : Rogue City showed how developer Teyon is doing just that.
The gameplay reveal trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City revealed the game’s fiery and unique first-person shooter action. Players will take on the role of RoboCop as he participates in the punishment of crime in a futuristic version of Detroit rife with crime. RoboCop will delve into industrial buildings, drugstores, dark alleys, and countless corporate office rooms to catch criminals. Players will also have RoboCop’s toolkit available, with his strength and precise targeting also displayed.
While the obvious influence of the original RoboCop movie and its sequel RoboCop 2 can be seen in the trailer, there’s a clearer announcement that shows the homage to which RoboCop: Rogue City will be. for 80s movies. Actor Peter Weller will reprise the role of RoboCop in the new game. Weller is the actor who played the title character for both RoboCop and RoboCop 2. He also voiced the video game for RoboCop, as well as with the Aftermath DLC for Mortal Kombat 11. But Weller’s role in RoboCop: Rogue City has Possibly the closest he’s had since the original movies.
The final confirmation made in the gameplay trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City is that it will be launching on multiple platforms. The title was not only released on modern generation platforms, including PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but also launched on Nintendo Switch. RoboCop: Rogue City has an official release timeframe scheduled for June 2023.
