RWBY: Ice Queendom Reveals Why Nightmare Grimm Targeted Weiss

Nightmare Grimm are parasitic Grimms that target people who are sensitive and emotionally conflicted. Weiss Schnee’s narcissism makes her the perfect target.

Kodoani.com – The following has additional sections for RWBY: Ice Queendom episode 3.

In the world of Remnant, Grimm is considered “the beast of destruction and carnage” and has no soul. Believed to have been created by the Dark God, Grimm was born in the dark and thrived in the dark. Therefore, they are incapable of possessing Auras and Semblance and turning into Dust when they die. While most Grimm take on beast form, other Grimm species also exist, such as the more parasitic Nightmare Grimm. The latter is the specialty of a Hunter named Shion Zaiden, who describes Nightmare Grimm as “plant-like” and prone to infiltrating the bodies of people who are sensitive or emotionally conflicted.

After being revealed in Volume 2 of RWBY: Ice Queendom Nightmare Grimm first appeared in Episode 3 when two of them possessed two Beacon Academy students: Jaune Arc and Weiss Schnee. The more sensitive student of the two, Jaune was the first to be immediately affected by the Grimm Nightmare that had taken root within his body. Nightmare Grimm’s weakness in Jaune’s case is his low self-esteem. Compared to the rest of the Clan Arc, Jaune didn’t think he could make any meaningful contribution to the Clan’s legacy and decided to become a Hunter in an attempt to remedy that.

Fortunately for Jaune, possessing the weak Aura and inactive Semblance proves to be his best defense against the Nightmare Grimm until Shion Zaiden is able to banish it from his body. However, the same is not true of Weiss Schnee. Not only does Weiss possess the powerful Aura and the powerful Semblance, but she also has two greater weaknesses than Jaune – narcissism and bigotry, both of which are evident throughout Episode 3.

Since the beginning of the series, Weiss comes from a world without privileges and thrives on systemic inequality. As a girl who always tries to get her way, she deeply lacks self-awareness and doesn’t like to give up control to others. She is particularly unresponsive when led by individuals she considers her subordinates – like Ruby Rose – and tries to pull strings with school authority figures to assign her roles. leadership in her group. Unfortunately for Weiss, this didn’t work in her favor as a school professor pointed out that her narcissism was the real reason she wasn’t appointed leader.

Weiss, of course, is not the type to give up. If being the best teammate is what she has to do to convince the school characters to let her be the leader of her team, then that’s exactly what she will do. In episode 3 of RWBY: Ice Queendom, Weiss works towards her goal by throwing love bombs at Ruby. She even started supporting behaviors from Ruby that previously bothered her to appear as a valuable team member. While her fake kindness is enough to make Ruby accept her, Weiss can’t fool her sister Yang Xiao Long nor her teammate Blake Belladonna.

During an outing with her group to attend a festival that was halted due to a Dust heist, Weiss shows off her true colors. Not only did she immediately suspect Faunus as the perpetrator of the robbery, but she also described the Faunus members of the White Fang gang as “violent, maniac perverts.” These comments misled Blake and ended up clashing with Weiss because of her ignorance and bigotry. This confrontation also inadvertently leads to Blake revealing himself to be a Faunus, which causes Yang to lose sympathy for Weiss.

Although Weiss is very wrong about her remarks, she continues to focus the pain she has inflicted on Blake on herself. Unsympathetic to the way her family has contributed to Blake’s suffering and the oppression of others like her, Weiss paints herself a victim by pointing out that nothing ever comes her way. since she enrolled in Beacon Academy. While Weiss decides to “befriend” Blake for the sake of the team, the Nightmare Grimm that resides within her knows she still hates Blake for what she is. At this point, Nightmare Grimm tightens its grip on Weiss, effectively establishing her storyline in Volume 4.
