Akira Toyama’s Sand Land manga was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000 and was later published as a single volume. Viz Media licensed it in English in 2003 and describes the plot as follows:
In the distant future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the water supply is controlled by a greedy king. In search of a long-lost lake, Chief Rao enlists the help of the demon king… and captures the king’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. The trio unexpectedly set off together across the desert, facing dragons, bandits and their most dangerous enemy… the King’s own army! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama!
Akira Toyama is best known for the hit shounen series, Dragon Ball.
