Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, the 2023 theatrical anime film based on the first two Digimon Adventure television series, is coming to home media thanks to a new collaboration between Shout! Studios and Toei Animation.
In the press release presented by the two companies, Shout! and Toei have signed a multi-year deal to release the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna sequel on home media. This deal gives “Shout! Studios North American home entertainment distribution rights to Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning for multi-platform releases in the United States and Canada, including all packaged media and digital rights sold through electronic.” Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning will be released physically and digitally in 2024. Both companies promised more exciting news for anime fans ahead of the film’s launch as the Digimon series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning Ends the Nostalgic 90s Anime Series
Based on the Fox Kids era of the Digimon franchise, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning features the cast of the 1999 and 2000 animated television series coming together for an exciting conclusion to the Digimon Adventure 02 story. The home media release will include an English dub produced by Toei Animation for US theatrical releases. Brian Donovan takes on the role of Davis Motomiya, along with Bryce Papenbrook as Cody Hida and Johnny Yong Bosch as TK Takaishi.
The official synopsis of the film reads: “It is now 2012, ten years have passed since the adventure in the Digital World. Daisuke Motomiya is now twenty years old, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined seem to be changing their appearance little by little.” And lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appeared in the sky above Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he is the world’s first DigiDestined….”
The original Digimon anime film will also be released, remade, and re-dubbed by Discotek Media. The upcoming collection includes the original Japanese versions as well as an Americanized version that combines the three films into one.
