The game about the dark world ruled by Sega will be released in the spring of 2023.
Kodoani.com – Sega revealed on Friday a new mobile game titled 404 GAME RE:SET with NieR series creator Yokō Tarō serving as the game’s creative director. The game is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2023 in Japan for iOS and Android devices. Pre-registration has begun. Sega is also planning to release it outside of Japan. The company streamed a video:
The game takes place in a dark world where Sega controls everything. This happened because Sega gave her game identity and a group of brainwashed game girls called “Cast” came to power. Players must fight to restore the world that Sega continues to rule.
Sega games represented as characters include After Burner, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop and Outrun. The video also includes references to Sonic the Hedgehog and his arch-nemesis Dr. Eggman. The employees also plan to add characters from other game companies’ titles.
The game will have a main scenario and specific stories about the character.
Yuugen is designing the characters. Gosuke Nakamura is producing the game.
The first trailer on Monday showed a cell phone starting to malfunction as it fell to the ground. The phone screen then displayed the words “Sōzōseyo akarui mirai wo” (Let’s make a bright future) and “Sega wo korose” (Kill Sega) before falling to the ground. The video continues with the cities of Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Paris flooded with Sega logos. The video ends with February 10, 2023, the announcement date, and the words “Sekai wa kawaru” (The world will change) on the screen.
