Smartphone game with the theme of creating 'gods' from the company Hironeko Project
Kodoani.com – Colopl revealed in a report on the company's fiscal second quarter on Wednesday that character designer Kazuma Kaneko is working on a new game called Project Mask for mobile.
The company describes the project as “a new gaming experience with the theme of creating 'gods'”. The project is one of five mobile games in the company's current pipeline. The report also notes 10 previously announced games in development for the console.
Colopl is planning to release blockchain game Brilliantcrypto in the third quarter of the fiscal year.
Kaneko revealed he had left Atlus and joined Colopl in an interview with the company on April 23.
Kaneko joined Atlus in 1988 and worked on the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. He was involved in concept creation, world building, and character design.
Colopl's mobile game Shroneko Project launched in Japan in 2014 and launched in English as Rune Story in 2015. The English version of the game stopped being updated in 2016. The 3D action RPG has Real-time battles and players can team up together in groups of four to take on enemies. City building is also a prominent aspect that can influence how the player's character develops.
The game was adapted for a television anime series that premiered in April 2020.
Colopl acquired all shares of the multimedia company MAGES from the company CHIYOMARU STUDIO and MAGES., which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Colopl in March 2020.
