Kodoani.com – Sony’s State of Play announced that Tekken 8 currently in development at Bandai Namco for the PlayStation 5. No further details have been revealed. Instead, a teaser trailer shows an intense battle between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima against the infamous volcano as the backdrop.
Tekken project producer Katsuhiro Harada explained to Sony that the footage in the trailer is from the game’s Story Mode and not a pre-rendered movie.
“In other words, all the character models, backgrounds and effects are the same used in the game,” said Harada. The background image in the trailer is also a real effect that can occur during gameplay. Harada has teased that the essence of the game’s story is also reflected in the trailer, but he doesn’t want to reveal the meaning behind the volcano.
“This new story will focus on the father-son confrontation between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. As for the meaning of the scene in the trailer and its importance to the main story, … we hope you’ll find out when the game is released,” he said.
Tekken 7 launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam in June 2017. The Tekken: Bloodline anime series follows the story of the fighting game Tekken 3, which premiered on Netflix on August 18.
