With a confirmed September release date, the latest information from Squid Research Lab reveals some of Splatoon 3’s new weapons.
Splatoon 3 looks to be one of Nintendo’s biggest titles of 2022. With a September release date, the second installment in the Splatoon franchise for the Nintendo Switch has announced more and more gameplay details, maps, and more. and more. In early July, Splatoon 3 showed fans one of its new maps – Mincemeat Metalworks, a facility made from scrap metal that fans will be able to paint in battle.
Now, some new weapons have been added to the recently revealed Splatoon 3 content list. As with Mincemeat Metalworks, the latest information about Splatoon 3 will come to gamers through the Squid Research Lab, an official Nintendo news series that focuses on the Splatoon installments. A bit of the latest fan news from Squid Research Lab revolves around two new weapons coming to Splatoon 3, the Octobrush and Inkbrush, both of which are designed to resemble paintbrushes.
The Inkbrush isn’t claimed to be the most powerful weapon in Splatoon 3, but it makes more sense for quick strides to draw maps around the player. In addition, according to Squid Research Lab, Inkbrush has the ability to approach “dizzy color change”, which can “mess up the opponent”. There hasn’t been an exact announcement about these in-game, but they’re likely to be related to the quick spins that can be painted on enemies’ faces in Splatoon 3.
Next is the Octobrush, a much heavier weapon that can also use quick sparks like Inkbrush, but uses more ink with each stroke. Octobrush makes a big impact on the map when it is used, due to its high ink holding capacity. Both of these weapons were previously available in Splatoon 2 with Inkbrush added as free DLC. While some fans find this a bit disappointing as they’d love to see some of the brand’s new weapons when introduced, others are thrilled to see their favorite brushes return. .
Previously, Nintendo introduced some brand new weapons to Splatoon 3, such as Special Weapons like the Crab Tank and Zipcaster. In addition to the in-game content, fans will also want to check out the Switch Splatoon 3 OLED, which has a coating on the dock’s sleek white design, along with the artistic purple and gold Joy-Cons from the title.
