Multiplayer 4v4 third-person shooter launches on PS5, PS4 with some AI-generated stuff
Kodoani.com – The official PlayStation blog revealed on Tuesday that the game Foamstars from Square Enix, a new 4v4 third-person shooter for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, will officially launch on February 6. PlayStation Plus users will have the opportunity to experience the game for free from February 6 to March 4.
The open beta on PS5 ran from September 29 to October 1, giving players the opportunity to experience the challenges and features of Foamstars first hand.
Square Enix describes Foamstars as follows:
“In FOAMSTARS, foam is the ultimate resource. It can be used diversely: to create slippery surfaces that help players move quickly; to build terrain for defense or create strategic high points; and Ultimately inciting the enemy to win the match.”
Square Enix and the game’s producer, Kosuke Okatani, confirmed that AI was used to create some things in the game. Using the synthetic AI program Midjourney, the development team created miniature art for the game’s icons and album covers. Okatani claims that despite AI’s contribution, the majority of games, from gameplay to core design, are still human creations, accounting for only “0.01% or less” of AI.
