Kodoani.com – Entertainment news website Variety reported on Wednesday that the animated film is based on the novel “The Imaginary” by AF Harrold and Emily Gravett of Studio Ponoc will premiere on Netflix on July 5. Variety also announced that the film will be in competition at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival and will have a chance to compete. Oscar.

Studio Ponoc previously announced that they will soon announce the English dub cast.
The series aired in Japan on December 15 under the title “Yaneura no Rudger” (Rudger in the Attic). In its first three days of release, the film grossed 68,169,730 yen (about $478,300).
Studio Ponoc delayed the film last year from its original summer 2022 release date due to “new challenges” stemming from the film's production methods and the COVID-19 pandemic.
AF Harrold's novel “The Imaginary” was released by Bloomsbury in 2001 with illustrations by Emily Gravett. This novel follows the adventures of Rudger, Amanda Shuffleup's imaginary friend, and their journey through a colorful and magical fantasy world.
