Pokémon Jessie and Ash’s mother find love together in this delightfully cute alternate universe and Ash is very happy for the two of them.
Prepare for adorableness and make it double! And make it double! Pokémon’s Team Rocket’s Jessie and Ash’s mother would make a very sweet couple in another world.
In this alternate universe (AU) created by yamujiburo, the personal account of Kiana Mai, the storyboard artist for Big City Greens, on Tumblr, Jessie, one third of the Team Rocket villains, fell in love with her mother. Ash, Delia. While Mai has drawn a lot of #hanamusa fan art, the shipping name combines Delia’s Japanese name Hanako and Jessie’s Japanese name Musashi, this particular piece of art focuses on Jessie opens up to Ash about her relationship with his mother.
Jessie and Ash have a heart to heart
For a long time, Jessie was always part of Ash’s Pikachu-stealing group. While Team Rocket has done its fair share of helping Ash and his friends, Ash’s acceptance of his mother’s new relationship is understandable at first. However, Jessie promises that she “will never do anything to hurt Delia” and tells Ash, “I care about you too. Especially after all this time.” After seeing how happy his mother and Jessie made each other, Ash teased the former Team Rocket member by calling her “Dad”, and the two had a fun argument about Ash. what to call Jessie now that she’s part of his family.
AU has received a positive reception from Tumblr users. cyberill wrote, “So cute 💙 calling her dad is also fun when she wears see-through.” Another person by the name lazermagpie wrote: “This is so adorable and gives me a vague feeling T_T.” Mai has illustrated many small scenes of Delia and Jessie loving each other happily, in family happiness, making fans extremely excited.
#Hanausa AU has fans
The anime never reveals where Ash’s father went or whether he will ever return. In a separate post, Mai explains why Delia and Jessie love each other. In their AU, Team Rocket wanders to Pallet town and Delia’s restaurant after being fired immediately. Team Rocket insists on repaying her kindness for feeding them. Delia in turn finds work for James and Meowth at Professor Oak’s restaurant and lab, and asks Jessie to help Mimey at home. Jessie stumbled across some old albums Ketchums had and realized how beautiful Delia was. Although the two were initially tiptoe about their relationship, they confessed their feelings and started dating.
The ship Delia and Jessie is a pretty famous ship in the Pokémon community. According to The Gamer’s article, Jade King wrote that the two make a perfect match because “Delia Ketchum is caring, soft-spoken, and has a cheeky side that she only shows when it’s appropriate. […] come alive with a partner like Jessie, who occasionally allows her to pull off her mischief.” Earlier, Mai animated a short video of Team Rocket tearfully saying goodbye to Ash and Pikachu following the announcement that the iconic duo would be leaving the series.
