Magical fantasy manga by author Gakuen Alice launched in October 2019
Kodoani.com – Manga Champignon no May (Champignon Witch) by Tachibana Higuchi will officially be adapted into a television anime, according to an announcement from Hakusensha on December 15. To commemorate the event, Higuchi drew a special image, in which the main character Luna appears with a characteristic mushroom hat, symbolizing the fantasy world that the story brings.
Fantasy and emotional story
The series focuses on Luna, a lonely witch living in the black forest, where she is shunned and feared by everyone. Nicknamed the “Witch of Champignon,” poisonous mushrooms grow wherever she walks. However, deep within the story is the discovery of Luna's emotional first love, bringing warm vibrations to readers amid the dark and fantasy setting.
Launched on Hakusensha's Manga Park app in October 2019, Champignon no May quickly attracted attention thanks to its unique plot and impressive drawings by Higuchi. The series has published its sixth volume, scheduled for release on December 20.

Tachibana Higuchi is not a strange name to the manga-loving community, especially after the resounding success of Gakuen Alice (Alice Academy).
