Kodoani.com – Media company EXNOA announced on Friday that they are producing an anime Tenchi Muyo GXP new title Tenchi Muyo GXP – Paradise Shidōhen (Paradise Begins Arc). The announcement did not reveal the format or release date of the anime. Tenchi Muyo! Author and character designer Masaki Kajishima drew the image below for the new anime.
Kajishima was appointed as the supervisory director of the project, while Hideki Shirane, the scriptwriter for Tenchi Muyo GXP, Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar … is writing and overseeing the scripts for the new project.
Tenchi Muyo GXP is a spin-off of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki’s OVAs focus on different characters, unlike previous projects like Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo, which are spin-offs of OVAs and focus on the franchise’s central cast of characters. Tenchi Muyo GXP began as a television anime that aired for 26 episodes in 2002, and was later followed by a series of novels by Kajishima starting in 2003. The 18th and latest volume were published in June of that year. 2018.
The new Tenchi Muyo GXP – Paradise Shidō-hen anime is a prelude to the “Paradise War” event in the story, and is connected to the fifth Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki OVA, marks a new story for protagonist Seina Yamada.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki is the title of the original 1992 OVA series that started the franchise, with multiple sequels and spin-offs. OVA has Tenchi Muyo! Omatsuri Zenjitsu no Yoru! ( Tenchi Muyo! The Night Before the Carnival), Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki Dai-2-Ki (Second Part) and its sequel Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki Dai-3-Ki (Part Three).
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki Dai-4-Ki (The Fourth Part), the fourth OAV, debuted in 2016 as the first series in the OVA after 11 years since the last episode of the OAV premiered in 2005. The fifth season of the OVA The anime has six episodes premiering in a home video release from February to May 2021.
Anime production company AIC entered into an agreement to transfer part of the ownership of some of its existing copyrights to Toei Agency in April 2021, with the two companies now sharing joint ownership of Tenchi Muyo, among other franchises.
