Kodoani.com – Hiroyuki, the author of famous manga such as The Comic Artist and His Assistants, Aho Girl, and Girlfriend, Girlfriend (Kanojo mo Kanojo) is about to release a new manga about how he got into debt of 50 million yen because buy watches.
The manga has a rather lengthy but humorous title: “A manga artist whose four works were adapted into anime is 50 million yen in debt due to his addiction to wristwatches” (Anime-ka 4 sakuhin no manga-ka ga udedokei ni hamatta kekka 5000 man-en no shakkin wo tsukutta hanashi). There are various taglines on the cover including “I even bought Omega and Rolex watches with A. Lange & Söhne…, but it doesn’t stop there!” and “Read this and you will want to buy a watch too!”.
Responding to comments about the humorous manga title, author Hiroyuki confirmed on his personal Twitter account that the manga was written to help him pay off his loans.
“Even if I get royalties, should I buy another watch? LOL. Maybe I’ll use the money to pay off debt.”
Mangaka Hiroyuki’s story has attracted the attention of the manga fan community in Japan. Hiro Mashima, author of the manga Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, said he was very interested in the story and would try to buy a copy. In response, author Hiroyuki commented: “Bravo! Thank you very much!
