In partnership with Japanese film production company Toei Animation, North American distributor Fathom Events has announced the theatrical release schedule for the new film in the United States. Digimon cartoon, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
On November 8 and 9, 2023, in 750 participating theaters across the United States, Fathom Events will host special screenings of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning at 7:00 p.m. local time. The synopsis of the new film has been provided by distributor Fathom Events:
It’s 2012, ten years have passed since the adventure in the Digital World. Daisuke Motomiya is now twenty years old, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined members seem to be changing little by little in their appearance and lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appeared in the sky above Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he is the world’s first DigiDestined.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was originally released in Japan in early October 2023. The film is a direct sequel to the 2020 reboot Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna and a further sequel of the original anime series Digimon Adventure 02
The new Digimon reboot movie is coming to US theaters in English and Japanese
The special screening of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning taking place on November 8 and 9 will be available in both English and Japanese. The November 8 screenings will show the new film with an English dub, while the November 9 screenings will show the film in the original Japanese with English subtitles. In addition, these screenings will include an introduction to the new film directed by Tomohisa Taguchi.
As a reward, the first 50 attendees of these screenings will receive a free Digimon Card Game Tamer Party Pack -THE BEGINNING- ver. Themed 2.0 tags are on a first-come, first-served basis. These cards were created to commemorate the release of the new film, and these screenings will be the first opportunity to own these special cards before they become available to the public in December 2023. Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is the latest release in the Digimon franchise that began in 1997. The previous feature-length film, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, was released in 2020, the same year as the remake of the original Digimon Adventure anime. In addition to the release of Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, a re-release of the original Digimon: The Movie is planned for 2023.
