An Indian man has raised his right hand to the sky for the past 10 years without lowering it to worship his god.
Mr. Mahant Radheypuri Juna Akhara, an Indian Sadhu (religious people, renounced worldly life) has raised his right hand to the sky for more than 10 years, to show respect to the deity he worships.
When he appeared in a video on Twitter, Mr. Mahant confided that because he wanted to do something for the god he worshiped, so Mahant decided to raise his right arm and never lower it. Mahant said his arm now seems to stay fixed in that position, even when sleeping, and he does not feel any inconvenience. When asked how long he intends to raise his hand like that, Mahant replied that he had never thought of putting his hand down. He enjoys life as it is now and hopes to continue to raise his hand like that for the rest of his life.
Mr. Mahant said the first few years were the most difficult. Then the muscles atrophied to the point where the entire arm became numb and stuck in that abnormal position. Mahant even pinched himself in the video to prove he no longer had feeling in his right hand.
However, Mahant is not the only person who has raised his hand in the air for a long time. More than 10 years ago, a man named Amar Bharati also raised his hand to the sky for 38 years to show his devotion. Up to now, Bharati has been holding hands in this position for about 50 years.
