Exhibitions, live paintings and special videos will be part of the festival
Kodoani.com – Fans of “Insomniacs After School” will experience firsthand the atmosphere of Nanao City, in Ishikawa Prefecture, where Makoto Ojiro's series takes place. And those who have seen this live-action film will have the opportunity to participate in the annual Seihakusai Festival of city, where volunteers and attendees can participate in pulling impressive floats called dekayama. Although the festival usually takes place from May 1 to 5, due to the earthquake in the peninsula Noto earlier this year, the traditional event was postponed.
Instead, fans will be invited to participate in a support event centered around “Insomniacs After School”, aimed at raising funds for disaster relief. Exhibitions of artwork from the manga, stills from the anime, and props from the movie will be on display. Ojiro drew special postcards for the event to hand out to visitors.
Ojiro will also be at the venue on May 3 and 4 for live painting demonstrations. In addition, a special video titled “You're Not Alone” will also be released.
Accompanying the event, a donation page was launched on the comic book website Big Comics. Through April 15, 2025, Ojiro and Shogakukan will donate the proceeds from the sale of “Insomniacs After School” to the Nanao City Disaster Relief Fund.
Insomniacs' after-school disaster area support event will take place from May 3 to June 2 in Ishikawa Patria Prefecture. The manga “Insomniacs After School” was serialized in Shogakukan's seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits.
An English version is also available from VIZ Media, with the story described as follows:
“Dark rumors about what happened to the astronomy club members kept everyone away from the school's observatory, and that's what made it the perfect hiding place for Nakami and Magari get some much-needed rest. Unfortunately, the school faculty can't allow it to be used without permission. But if there's a new astronomy club, maybe these two insomniacs will have a place to call home!”
