TES left Worlds 2024 after a “disastrous” match with T1
Before the match between TES and T1 took place, the audience expected this to be a fiery encounter between teams full of “destiny”. However, the actual match showed that this was more like a “walk” for T1 when TES did not show the necessary resistance throughout this Bo5 match. As a result, TES had to suffer a very heavy loss with a score of 0-3 against T1 and left the 2024 World Championship in a “humiliating” way.
Not stopping there, the way TES chose the lineup or made banning options in this match showed that they seemed to be extremely “out of meta”. Right from game 1, the choice of the extremely heavily nerfed champion in version 14.18, Tristana, showed that TES was out of rhythm. Even TES's decision to ban this champion in game 2 was directly commented by the LPL audience that they did not even watch T1's matches because Faker had not used Tristana recently.
The LPL legend was angry with TES for losing to T1
Immediately after the above match ended, social networking sites and forums about League of Legends in the LPL region continuously appeared articles criticizing TES. Viewers even discovered that 369's Weibo page had closed all comments and put it in protected mode to avoid criticism from the audience. A typical example is the time when LPL legend Misaya posted an article on his personal blog to express his extreme frustration when witnessing TES play against T1.
“I agree that T1 played very well, but I have to admit that TES played very disappointingly in this match. They could not keep the rhythm of the match and played like a “2nd class” team when they let T1 lead them. Everything from moving, taking objectives to pushing the lane. TES played like they were a Wild Card team doing everything so randomly that it only led to a quick collapse “Playing so bad makes me feel like I still deserve to play in the quarterfinals of the World Championship even though I've been retired for 11 years, it's really too much to bear” – Legend Misaya frankly shared.
Misaya's comments above are well-founded as TES in the last match was significantly inferior to T1 in the ability to control goals. A typical example is that in all 3 games, TES only took 9 towers from the opponent while this number on T1's side was up to 28. In addition, the ability to control the Dragon or Baron of the LPL representative was also completely inferior compared to with opponents in this match. But such an extreme difference in parameters probably only lies in matches that are too “outstanding”, so Misaya is right to call TES a “second-rate” team with such performances.
With the recent defeat against T1, TES ended the 2024 season “empty-handed” without a single LPL or international title. This is truly a sad ending for TES this season as they are considered the most valuable team in the LPL region. On the contrary, T1 showed extremely impressive strength with their victory over TES and they appeared ready to overcome their next opponent towards the goal of defending the World Championship crown.
