This man admitted to taking responsibility for 100 violators, having his license deducted -321 points and receiving a small amount of remuneration.
Spanish police recently arrested a man from Armenia after discovering he was selling a strange service on social networks. Specifically, this man does the job of accepting fault on behalf of drivers who violate traffic laws so that they can keep their records clean. Of course, the “customer” will have to pay him between 75 EUR and 200 EUR per deduct (about 1.7 million to 4.6 million VND).
His business was exposed as it was on the rise around mid-2021, when Mallorca’s Civil Traffic Guard was investigating an incident on the Andratx motorway. Accordingly, a motorbike rider had resisted the police when asked to stop for an alcohol test. Despite being held by the police, this person deliberately ignored it and continued to move, causing the police cars to get out of the way to avoid an accident. In the process of running away, this person continued to make a series of other violations.
However, the police were able to record the license plate number and send a summons. The person who went to the police station to confess later was a man with an Armenian accent. However, upon checking his documents, police discovered that he did not have a motorbike license, had no valid points on his driver’s license and was also not present in Mallorca on the day of the incident.
It was not until the police conducted a more thorough investigation that they discovered the man’s “conspiracy”. This man from Armenia is on record as having committed various traffic violations, occurring all over the peninsula. The number of points deducted on his card is also very negative, despite having had his license suspended long ago.
The circumstances of the cases are also repeated similarly: this man will go to the police station to confess on behalf of the driver of the offending vehicle, even though this car is actually in someone else’s name. He will then pay the fine and have the points deducted from his card. This way, real vehicle owners will be able to keep their license points and clean up their records.
It is known that in Spain and many other EU countries there is a system of demerit points on driver’s licenses used as a measure to penalize drivers who commit violations. Each person will have a total of 12 points, which will be gradually deducted with each violation that occurs. For example, using a mobile phone while driving will be fined and 3 points deducted. When these points are deducted, the driver’s license will be suspended for a while. Mallorca’s Civil Traffic Guard found the Armenian man’s score to be -321.
During the investigation, more puzzling details were also found. For example, the system recorded that he admitted to making two mistakes in just half an hour, but the locations of the mistakes were 800km apart. Or like there are more than a dozen cases where he was fined for driving a motorbike at an excessive speed, even though when checking the camera, the driver was a woman.
In the end, the investigation found that he was doing this as a money-making service, dealing with anyone who wanted to “outsource” their illegal driving. For each minus on the card, he will earn from 75 EUR to 200 EUR. And since starting this job, he has taken the blame on behalf of no less than 91 people across Spain.
What makes the police wonder is why his driver’s license has been suspended for a long time, but he can still have points deducted and blame for dozens of people, earning a small profit?
