The new “heel sneakers” created in collaboration with the Rebuild of Evangelion series combine comfort and style in this latest merch release.
Fashion brand MAYLA has announced that the Evangelion Iconique Heel Sneakers will be available for pre-order from February 16, 2024, from 17:00 (JST). The company revealed that “in addition to the thickness and softness typical of sneakers,” the shoes “are very comfortable to wear and the sole is also thick, providing stability and a comfortable fit” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Fans can pre-order a copy of Evangelion Progressive Knife, which also plays back iconic audio clips and even a song from the series’ films and anime.
The Evangelion Iconique heel sneaker is the first of its kind produced by MAYLA, but the company is a long-time collaborative partner with the Evangelion brand. MAYLA previously released five pumps inspired by Rebuild characters Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Kaworu and Mari, as well as a previous collaboration inspired by an EVA plug-in suit. Besides heels, MAYLA has also released an Evangelion earring collection, while the brand joined Spy x Family for the anime to recently receive a high heel collaboration. While the exact price of the new Iconique Heel Sneakers is unknown, MAYLA ships worldwide, with previous heel collaborations typically priced between $120 and $250 USD.
Evangelion and Fashion continue to work hand in hand for new merchandise
The Evangelion brand’s fashion footprint has expanded massively in recent weeks. Clothing making its debut at Rakuten Fashion Week in 2023 recently went on sale as Seveskig revealed its new designer line with Evangelion. The new Evangelion heels could also be replaced by more casual sneakers after British footwear manufacturer WALSH announced five new sneakers inspired by the Rebuild line.

Rebuild of Evangelion features a retelling of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion television series, introducing new character Mari Illustrious Makinami as well as telling a completely original story with Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. The series ends with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. All four films can be viewed on Amazon’s Prime Video.
