It took the number one spot in its opening weekend, sold 634,182 tickets with a total value of about 7.20 million USD. This beats the Gun franchise’s last record holder, 2021’s Mobile SuitGundam Hathaway, which sold 259,074 tickets for approximately $4.77 million. As reported by Anime News Network, GTA Seed Freedom had its biggest opening weekend in Japan to date, and was also the first film to earn over a billion yen since 1988 Char’s counterattacka spin-off of the original anime.
