One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda revealed a particularly annoying character, explaining in an interview why nerfing him became necessary.
One Piece author Eiichiro Oda once revealed why one of the Straw Hat members annoyed him the most in terms of writing.
Famous One Piece fan and Sandman translator recently reposted an interview on X (formerly Twitter) in which Oda explained why he had the most difficulty with the character Monkey D. Luffy. . “Luffy bothers me the most,” he said. “I have to slow him down with obstacles, otherwise he will soon defeat the villain.???? My characters act as if they have a will of their own. When I forced them to move for the sake of the story, my audience complained.”

Jujutsu Kaisen debate rages over creator’s potential plot hole: “Gojo was nerfed”
Jujutsu Kaisen fans engage in a fierce debate over whether Gege Akutami intentionally took down Satoru Gojo in a previous manga chapter.
The idea that characters act according to their own free will is a view that many writers have expressed before. Hunter x Hunter author Yoshihiro Togashi said in a 2006 interview that he tries to think of character arcs in terms of what they would say, regardless of his hopes as a writer. This often results in the characters doing things he doesn’t expect, with subsequent plot changes.
Luffy’s power is also reduced in the latest One Piece chapter
Given that teenage Luffy has technically only been a pirate for a few years, his rapid rise naturally suggests that applying the brakes is necessary. He went from being a nameless pirate to being one of the Yonko along with longtime veterans like Blackbeard and Shanks (and technically Buggy). The impact of placing a limit on Luffy’s power was said to have been seen in the latest One Piece Chapter 1105, when Luffy should have easily handled Lucci. Having failed to defeat him, Zoro now holds off Zoro at a crucial moment when the Straw Hats need to escape Egghead Island.
