Kodoani.com – The main website for the new anime adaptation of the manga Urusei Yatsura Rumiko Takahashi’s anime revealed on Wednesday that the second half of the anime will premiere in January 2024. The anime premiered in Noitamina on Fuji TV in October 2022.
The first half of the anime has lasted for half a year, or two seasons (equivalent to a quarter of a year), without interruption. The entire anime will adapt selected stories from the manga and the final four seasons, or a whole year, though not consecutively.
Takahiro Kamei (episode director of Strike Witches: Road to Berlin, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) is directing the series. Masaru Yokoyama (Horimiya, Mobile Suit Gun: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Fruits Basket 2019) is composing the music.
The series is about the meeting between the human boy Ataru Moroboshi and the beautiful alien princess Lum. They engage in an exciting game of chase and from there, the story leads to adventures, supernatural interactions, and humorous situations.
The Urusei Yatsura manga series ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1978 to 1987. The manga inspired a television anime series that ran from 1981 to 1986, multiple anime films, and an OVA. .
