After the assassination of Queen Amel, the entire kingdom fell into a state of panic as people began pointing fingers at each other to find the real culprit behind this crime.
The most recent suspect of the crime was Roygar, but Gregor decided to temporarily release him while Duke Riagan was sentenced to death and the entire Riagan Family was dissolved. Find out what happens next in The Villainess Lives Twice Chapter 176!
The Villainess Lives Twice Chapter 175 opens with Roygar meeting Gregor in the Kratez Royal palace. Roygar bowed before His Majesty and welcomed him by calling him “the sun of the empire”. Gregor asks Roygar if he is okay after such a long and difficult journey, but Roygar argues that it is not difficult for him if the King asks him to do it.
Gregor said that he called Roygar to meet him in person because he thought it was the most appropriate way to meet an envoy. Gregor added that he also knew that Roygar would not admit his defeat in front of others so an informal meeting would take place that would also work.
Roygar apologized because he didn’t understand why he was being bombarded with such accusations. Roygar wondered what Cardriol had written in his letter and how much he had revealed.
Roygar also became angry because if Cardriol tried to interfere with his political status it would become a problem when he ascended the throne.
Roygar thought the safest approach was to turn his attention to Cardriol so that his empire would be safe from suspicion.
Gregor tells Roygar that Cardriol wrote in his letter that King Amel was responsible for the queen’s assassination. Gregor then looked towards Roygar and asked him if he thought this was an act of rebellion.
Gregor also asks Roygar if he believes that the King is responsible for the queen’s murder. Roygar smiled hesitantly and said that when he arrived at Amel’s kingdom, he discovered that Cardriol had gathered an army so even he did not know the true identity of the assassin behind the queen’s death.
Roygar says he believes this is just a political gesture to restrain Prince Cardriol. Suddenly a voice came from behind Roygar claiming that the culprit was either King or Prince Cardriol.
The Man in the Back adds that Queen Amel was involved in such a major scandal as the salt business that it was almost impossible to dismiss her assassination as a mere family dispute.
Roygar turned and asked the Man to explain his point further. The man, Emperor Ferguson’s Inquisitor, explained that the people of House Riagan claimed that they had no personal grudge against the queen so there was no reason for them to assassinate her. Ferguson added that fights between business partners were a common occurrence and these fights sometimes even turned into murders.
Gregor says that if the Riagans were responsible for the murder, why did they hire an assassin in their name? Ferguson replied that there were a lot of stupid murderers out there and so the murder could have been committed by someone under the command of Duke Riagan or by someone trying to run a salt business.
Roygar was furious because Ferguson indirectly accused him of murder. Ferguson smirked when he saw Roygar going on a rampage and he then asked Roygar why he didn’t give information to House Riagan when they asked him to exonerate them from the charges surrounding the death of Queen Amel.
Roygar was further angered by such blatant accusations and so he told Ferguson that he had no right to question him. Gregor also intervened and asked Ferguson not to make baseless comments about Roygar. Ferguson immediately apologized for his rude behavior.
Ferguson then asks Gregor how he should deal with Duke Riagan, but Gregor chooses to stay silent because he doesn’t even want to talk about him. Gregor thought that he couldn’t even be disappointed because he had chosen Duke Riagan for his own petty reasons.
Gregor orders Ferguson to hang Duke Riagan as punishment for deceiving the Emperor. As for the children, Gregor ordered them to be given new names when they turned 10 years old, after which they would be sent to a monastery in the West.
Gregor remembered that Cedric was also standing right outside his room, so he felt relieved that if any of the children of House Riagan harbored hatred for him, he could deal with them in the future.
