Tite Kubo’s popular Bleach manga quickly became a popular manga/anime franchise, forming the “Big-Three” with Naruto and One Piece, and all three series feature several characters, action sequences, and systems. Incredible combat system. But while Bleach has some battles that are truly incredible for what its name suggests, its action sequences can feel a little underwhelming or even outdated.
For every battle between Ichigo vs Byakuya or Ichigo vs Ulquiorra, Bleach has plenty of forgettable battles that don’t really satisfy shonen fans. Worse yet, many of Bleach’s battles are either over-simplified, have poor animation, or rely too heavily on last-minute powerups. With all of that in mind, it’s easy to see which action anime has better battles. Some are just slightly better, and some are much better.
Dragon Ball Z
Series Dragon Ball Z Akira Toriyama’s is almost a model for modern shonen action, and series from Naruto to Jujutsu Kaisen are heavily indebted to Saiyan hero Son Goku’s stories. And as expected, the franchise also features some of shonen’s all-time best battles.
These range from Goku’s legendary, bitter struggle against Frieza for Namek’s fate to the final battle against Cell, and of course, the incredible Tournament of Power.
Tensei-shitara Slime datta ken
Featured isekai anime Tensei-shitara Slime datta ken never quite as high as Bleach, but its action scenes are slightly better than Bleach’s. It gives Slime’s fight scenes colorful, smooth animations and some great cinematography.
As a bonus, Slime’s battles are diverse in terms of power, weapons and monsters involved, and extremely powerful characters. This is the anime where an epic battle ends when slime hero Rimuru eats the giant Orc Lord and spares all the other Orcs to fight, and even recruit them. Bleach never did anything like that.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Even if the power scale of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood can’t match Bleach, this hit shonen series has better battles that keep viewers guessing with creative uses of alchemy, even high-level weapons and military . For example, Olivier Armstrong fueled Sloth, then used a tank cannon to shoot him into a blizzard, where he froze solids.
For their part, the alchemists thrill and delight anime fans with their flashy, creative uses of their powers. Edward can make or break walls, turn rocks into giant fists, form metal cages from thin air, etc. And then there are the homunculi, who have powers ranging from the Eye of the Eye. ultimate to the creation of a false Portal of Truth.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
It’s not just power scales and lightning attacks to make the anime’s combat system enjoyable for viewers. It helps a lot as the anime’s combat system rewards creativity and unpredictable thinking, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure totally beneficial on that front.
The Phantom Blood plot is pretty simple, but once the Stands entered the picture, that all changed. These base wars are creative, clever, and above all, unpredictable and never-ending. That compares well with Bleach’s many deus ex machina frontier victories.
Demon Slayer
In many ways, Demon Slayer just like Bleach, and the original author even named Bleach as one of the few series that inspired Demon Slayer. This story stars the good-natured protagonist Kamado Tanjiro, a sword-wielding Demon Slayer bound by a quest to defeat the flesh-eating demons in Taisho-era Japan.
Demon Slayer’s legendary animation puts anything in Bleach’s anime to shame thanks to Studio UFOtable’s care. Furthermore, the battles in Demon Slayer are more emotionally impactful than in Bleach, and they are not nearly as constrained or forced.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Famous series Jujutsu Kaisen borrowed generously from Bleach and even took a few cues from Naruto, all while portraying its own identity as a brilliant and innovative action story for fans to enjoy. So far, the anime lacks battles on par with Ichigo vs Ulquiorra or Captains vs Sosuke Aizen, but it might soon get there.
This anime’s curse-based combat system boasts razor-sharp animation, great music, and the characters’ creative use. Not only can any anime turn an electric guitar into a deadly fantasy weapon for battling monsters, but Jujustu Kaisen has managed that.
Attack on Titan
.’s battle system Attack on Titan lacks zanpakuto, jutsu or Devil Fruits, but it doesn’t need flashy stuff like that to create some of modern anime’s best action scenes. That makes these battles come to life with incredible camera operability, high frame rates, and fine detail.
On top of that, Attack on Titan makes the most of its relatively simple combat system with exciting Titan vs Titan duels, bloody action with razor blades and thundering spears, and even large-scale battles involving the Marley Empire. It’s hard to believe watching Zeke’s Titan throw a handful of shells to blow up an entire fleet of enemy ships, for example.
Naruto
Famous series Naruto made it into the classic “Big Three,” and it’s easy to see why. Not only does Naruto have some great world-building and a great cast of characters, but its jutsu-based combat system also results in tough, exciting battles that Bleach simply can’t match. .
Many of Naruto’s ninja battles have become legendary, from Naruto and Sasuke’s many skirmishes to Sasuke’s confrontation with Uchiha Itachi and certainly the great struggle against Pain. Viewers never know what these ninjas will do next, but it will always be worth the wait.
One Piece
Although not every character One Piece eventually all actually eat Devil Fruits, but a lot of them do and non-Fruit characters like Roronoa Zoro can easily keep up with them. And even if some of One Piece’s characters or battles are downright goofy, they’re still thrilling to watch.
Similar to My Hero Academia, One Piece features characters that intelligently and resourcefully use their diverse powers, from fire and ice to earthquakes, darkness, and even light itself. That makes for some outstanding battle shine, and the grand battle at Marineford is simply unbelievable.
My Hero Academia
Anime My Hero Academia is the third major docuseries, and the franchise was really successful when its anime came out in 2015. This anime’s combat system is based on supernatural Quirks, unique abilities akin to mutants in the series. X-Men or even Devil Fruits found in One Piece.
The characters of My Hero Academia make excellent use of their very diverse Quirks in battle, especially when it comes to teamwork. This makes for an innovative, unpredictable combat system that features more tricks and quirks than Bleach’s. Battles like All For One vs All Might and Izuku vs Shoto can’t be ignored.
