The first season premiered in July 2021 and aired for 12 episodes. This is the first anime for NTV's newly established Anime Department.
NTV describes the anime:
Makoto Misumi is just an ordinary high school student living an ordinary life, but is suddenly summoned to another world to become a “hero”. However, the goddess of the other world insults him for being different and strips him of his title of “hero”, before sending him into the wilderness at the edge of the world. While wandering in the wilderness, Makoto encounters dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and all sorts of non-human tribes. Because Makoto comes from another world, he can unleash magical powers and unimaginable fighting skills. But how will he handle encountering many different species and surviving in new environments. In this fantasy world, Makoto tries to make another world a better place even though humans and gods have turned their backs on him.
Azumi launched the novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2012, and AlphaPolis published the novel in print with illustrations by Mitsuaki Matsumoto. The series has 1.4 million copies in circulation. Kotora Kino began publishing adapted stories in 2016.
