Undead Unluck episode #21, “Memento Mori”, picks up where episode #20 left off with Anno Un sending Fuuko’s soul into Andy’s memories to become stronger by understanding him better. Fuuko eventually met Andy when he led a group of criminals in post-Civil War America and quickly joined their ranks to bond with Andy. Unfortunately, the day Fuuko met Andy’s group was also that day. Andy and his friends were shot down by criminals, then Andy learned about his Undead powersand even though Fuuko was still with Andy after that, he never smiled once while they were together.
One day, after years of searching together for someone who knew about Andy’s past, Andy asked Fuuko what she thought a person’s death meant. While Andy has a clinical view on things, Fuuko asserts that people never die as long as you cherish their memories, and that makes Andy smile for the first time in years. Fuuko was then sent to Washington DC on April 15, 1865, the oldest memory Andy had, and when she disappeared, Fuuko told Andy to find her in 2020, the day they met.

In addition to Fuuko finally saying that she loves Andy, episode #21 also reveals that Andy’s obsession with Fuuko in the early episodes was because he has been in love with her for over a century, all the more so. adding an extra layer to their dynamic and somewhat. rationalizes some of the weirder parts of their relationship.
