Kodoani.com – Arc System Works posted a new trailer on Thursday for the game “Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celest” the latest installment of French Bread’s “Under Night In-Birth” 2D fighting game series. The trailer introduces two new playable characters, Tsurugi and Kuon, and also announces an official release date of May 25. first.
The game will be released on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
“Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celest” will mark the final chapter in the series’ storyline and will pick up from the original series. At launch, the game will have a total of 24 characters, including familiar ones and three new characters: Kaguya, Tsurugi and Kuon.
The original “Under Night In-Birth” was released in Japan in 2012 and later had an updated version titled “Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late” in 2013. Arc System Works released the version. PS3 version of the game in Japan in 2014. However, the original “Under Night In-Birth” was never released outside of Japan.
The next version, “Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st],” launched on PS3 and PS4 in Japan in 2017. The game was released in North America and Europe in 2018. Then, “Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[cl-r]” launched on PS4 and Switch in 2020 and on PC via Steam in 2020.
The “Under Night In-Birth” game series is famous for its unique GRD mechanism, adding a life meter and super moves. Players must also compete to earn GRD, a secondary resource, through attacks and defenses. Every 16 seconds, the player with the most GRD will be rewarded with a buff that increases damage and uses super moves. This creates a deep layer of strategy in the game.
