Kodoani.com – The official Twitter account of the TV anime adaptation of the manga Under Ninja Kengo Hanazawa’s revealed a teaser video for the anime on Saturday. The trailer contains no anime scenes, but confirms the anime will premiere in 2023.
A lonely high school student is assigned the part-time job of a lifetime as a modern-day ninja tasked with international assassinations.
After World War II, Allied Command in Japan developed a new agency to help manage terrorism and violence in the Pacific region. The agency is staffed by ninjas, and they were initially tasked with dealing with domestic affairs. Eventually, that program evolved into its current form, managing 20,000 ninjas in a wide range of domestic and international affairs. One of those ninjas is Kudo. The failed seventeen-year-old high school student is now poised to become the next line of defense against a potential surge of foreign assassins invading Tokyo.
Hanazawa launched the manga in Kodansha’s Young Magazine in July 2018. The manga’s eighth compiled book volume shipped on August 5, and the ninth volume will ship on January 6.
Hanazawa launched the I am a Hero manga in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2009 and ended the series in 2017 with 22 volumes. The manga already has two spinoff manga series. A live-action film adaptation premiered in Japan in April 2016. Dark Horse Comics will release the manga in North America.
