The woman had to go through the sewer containing a layer of waste nearly 100m thick to rescue the kitten in Florida, USA.
Lindsey Bembli, a woman, crawled about 100 meters in the sewer to rescue the kitten Friday morning, after repeatedly trying to get it out of the sewer at a Florida Beach.
Bembli shared that she heard the kitten meow on Sunday. Firefighters arrived at the scene, but were still unable to pull the kitten out. Bembli said she left food for the kitten and tried to retrieve the kitten several times a week, but it kept running away.
She called for help from everyone around and tried to find ways to rescue the kitten. The perseverance finally paid off. Liz Jones, a friend of Lindsey’s who was part of the Animal Rescue Team, was the one who went down the drain and shared some of her videos from the tunnel.
“I really didn’t want him to die down there in that dark and dirty place,” Bembli said. It is a job that we have to do regularly. “
Jones and her crawled through 100m of waste in the sewer including feces, spiders and cockroaches, .. to rescue the cat. The rescuers named the kitten Donatello after a character from the cartoon series Ninja Turtles, dressed in purple, living in a sewer. A link has been created on the GoFundMe charity website where people can help and donate to Donatello’s recovery costs.
