After receiving help from a mysterious wandering mage to control this power, and recovering from an accident, he returns to a lonely home with his sister and two maids. Shiki gradually awakens to his powers, and is caught up in a conspiracy involving a vampire named Arcueid, as well as dark secrets held by his schoolmate Ciel, his sister, Akiha, and the two maids Hisui and Kohaku.
