League of Legends: Wild Rift hits a major milestone where, according to a report on SensorTower, the game has grossed over $500 million.
Wild Rift is the 2nd mobile MOBA game in terms of revenue in the first 6 months of 2022. Behind Tencent’s Honor of Kings, ahead of Supercell’s Brawl Stars. Tencent owns both Riot and Supercell.
One of the interesting facts about this report is that Wild Rift is extremely popular in China. In fact, China accounts for 72% of the game’s total earnings.
The App Store accounts for 84% of game earnings in China, of which Google Play accounts for about 16%. Outside of China is a different story, with Apple accounting for 43% and Google accounting for 57%.
Wild Rift is Riot’s third foray into the mobile space, with Teamfight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra going ahead. Both previous games have performed well, but Riot’s latest game is clearly the most successful to date. The three games have grossed $828 million at this point.
League of Legends: Wild Rift launches in various regions around the world as of October 2020 and tested in mainland China as of October 2021.
SensorTower says the game ranks second in MOBA titles in the first half of 2022, with cumulative revenue of $218 million, behind only Tencent’s Honor of Kings with $1.4 billion.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is the third mobile game released by Riot Games. The company’s first mobile game Teamfight Tactics released in March 2020 has raised $299 million to date. Legends of Runeterra, launched in April 2020, has raised over $24 million. In the 16 months since entering the mobile game field, Riot Games has earned a total of 828 million USD.
