20-year-old British teenager Brandon Hackett has just discovered he has a strange disease through lifting 660 pounds (approximately 300 kg).
Brandon Hackett thought he had a dislocated disc after lifting 300kg because he lost feeling in his legs. However, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma – a tumor that appears in the bone or in the soft tissue surrounding the bone.
Hackett first started experiencing back pain in July 2021 while training for a weightlifting competition. He went to the doctor and was told the pain was due to muscle tension, so he began physical therapy. However, the pain continued and spread to his stomach, and he also had a tingling sensation in his legs.
On returning to the doctor, the doctor said it could be sciatica, which is nerve pain in the legs caused by an irritated or damaged sciatic nerve. The pain stretched to a headache when Hackett attended the Leeds Music Festival in August 2021 and found his leg weakened on Saturday of the music event.
When he woke up on Sunday, Hackett was struggling to get around. Hackett collapsed at home and was taken to the hospital, where he was later sent home. Since then he needs a walker to help him move.
Hackett told SWNS: “I’m a pretty active person, so I’m not really worried but I was confused and thought ‘this is not normal’. It’s really scary and weird with a tingling sensation that doesn’t go away. Every time I tried to move, it was like my whole body was electrocuted. It felt like my feet were glued to the floor and I couldn’t even move my toes.”
Hackett underwent emergency decompression surgery and gradually began to regain some movement in his legs and was eventually diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. Fortunately, the cancer did not spread and Hackett began treatment in October 2021. After chemotherapy, Hackett slowly regained mobility and began to walk again.
“I had to spend a whole week lying on my back to reduce swelling in my spinal cord. It was a relief when I started exercising again at the end of the week.” You said
Hackett was told that he would make a full recovery and could even start going to the gym again, the good news is that despite having just started physical therapy, Hackett can walk without assistance. help.
