In order to explore the waters around Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV, the player must understand the control mechanics to be able to easily dive in this area.
Final Fantasy XIV’s new Island Sanctuary requires players to gather a variety of resources to build, and some of these materials can only be found by diving underwater. Some Warriors of Light will no doubt be confused as to how this is done, as the Island tutorial doesn’t provide instructions for diving or swimming underwater in Final Fantasy XIV. Fortunately, the technique used to submerge yourself under the ocean’s surface is extremely easy to do.
It should be noted that diving and underwater exploration is nothing new to Final Fantasy XIV. This move mechanic was originally introduced in Stormblood. This expansion features the Warriors of Light departing from the cold wasteland and sci-fi civilization of Heavensward to the more temperate regions of Ala Mhigo and Doma. During the player’s journey, they are tasked with making an alliance with the Kojin, a race of Kappa-like creatures that live on the ocean floor. Naturally, players who complete the expansion must dive into the sea. The controls and inputs used to perform this action are the same as the Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV.
For those who haven’t unlocked the Island Sanctuary area, they must first complete the quest “Endwalker”, which is the final MSQ of the Endwalker expansion. After completing this quest, they must complete the quest “Find the Holy Land” in Old Sharlayan. This side quest will eventually lead them to their island. Luckily, you won’t need to take any extra steps and no registration is required.
Thanks to a performance by YouTube content creator Cole Evyx, fans can learn how to dive underwater at their Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV. After going under the sea, the player can collect many new materials to improve their island hideout. For further clarification, here are the default controls below for diving in the water around Final Fantasy XIV’s Island Sanctuary:
Each entrance will allow the player to dive underwater. If adventurers are looking to explore other areas of Hydaelyn outside of their Island Reserve, the same controls will allow them to submerge themselves as well. As mentioned above, completing Endwalker is required to unlock Island Sanctuary, meaning that players who have completed the expansion will also complete Stormblood, where diving is introduced. However, it’s possible that those who used the storyline bypass to achieve Endwalker quests may not have known how underwater movement works in Final Fantasy XIV.
