Studio Ghibli's Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, now has a home entertainment release date, promising new interviews, featurettes and more. More content from GKIDS and Shout! Movie studio.
According to a press release, Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron will be released digitally in 4K on June 25 through distributor GKIDS. It will be followed on July 9 with a 4K UHD+ Blu-ray physical release, a Blu-ray+DVD release, and a limited edition steelbook featuring 4K UHD+ Blu-ray, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos . Scream! Studios oversees the distribution of home entertainment versions. It continues its partnership with GKIDS, having worked together to release the hit film The First Slam Dunk. The Boy and the Heron marks the first Studio Ghibli film to be released in 4K UHD, with all versions dubbed into both English and Japanese. Studio Ghibli has just released a series of new free-to-use images of Mahito Maki, star of the studio's latest hit animated film, The Boy and the Heron.
