The iconic shojo manga Sailor Moon has received brand new birthday artwork from original author Naoko Takeuchi for the franchise's official store. The new color illustrations celebrate the birthdays of two of the manga's most beloved characters, Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa.

Sailor Moon's official store is home to many new and exclusive items
The Sailor Moon Store in Tokyo is home to many of Takeuchi's original artworks, including a 200-page compilation of over 700 illustrations from her decades-long career: Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023). Inside the store, fans will find framed highlights of her Raisonne artwork, as well as new artwork that debuts regularly in unique ways, such as the Sailor Moon Store Original Cup. Earlier this year, Takeuchi also released four new illustrated postcards featuring Usagi Tsukino, Chibiusa Tsukino (in her Black Lady form), and Mamoru Chiba. These feature a special effect that creates auroras when illuminated.
This aurora effect is becoming a staple of new items at the Sailor Moon Store; two new store exclusive t-shirts were released in-store and online on June 22, 2024. While fans were spoiled with white and black colorways, the effect was The beautiful optics on the front logo are still the same effect that creates a rainbow on the move. The store also sells bottles, cups, statues, and even lucky charms, many of which feature designs for both Usagi and Chibiusa. Despite appearing close in the above artwork, their relationship in the series is often tense, with Usagi's treatment of her daughter unsurprisingly ranked in the top 10 by CBR Worst thing Usagi did in Sailor Moon.
