2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the Transformers franchise, with a number of projects set to be released in the second half of the year. Including an animated series that fans have long suspected was abandoned altogether.
Nezha x Transformers is an upcoming Chinese anime that combines Transformers: Cyberverse with a version of a Chinese legend. Announced years ago and even having toys released, the show is finally scheduled to air five years after it was first revealed. Over at TFW2005, the first new trailer for the show, seen below, also revealed a clear change in scope and premise.

The latest Transformers 'anime' is a 52-episode Chinese animated series
Nezha x Transformers was announced in 2019, with the show merging the current Transformers with the 2003 Chinese animated series, The Legend of Nezha. The latter was one of many animated adaptations based on Chinese folklore, with the show meant to feature the mystical deity assisting the Autobots against Megatron and the Decepticons. There were also toys released based on the Transformers Cyberverse aesthetic, but due to lack of traction, it appears the project was canceled.
Now, a new trailer suggests that this isn't the case, despite some obvious changes. Retitled My Nezha and Transformers, the protagonist is now a young man named Xiao Zha who is transported to a world where both Nezha and Transformers live. Nezha will even have a giant Autobot body that can transform, effectively merging the two characters. According to the trailer, the series will have 52 episodes that will be released by the end of 2024, although at the time of writing, no specific release date or international release status has been confirmed. Any further collaborations between the characters or another China-exclusive Transformers show are also up in the air, especially considering the time it took to create this one.
