Crunchyroll entered the streaming scene over a decade ago, allowing anime lovers around the world to enjoy their favorite hits as soon as they debuted in Japan. Now, the iconic streaming platform has officially surpassed 15 million monthly paying subscribers from around the world, ushering in “a new era in history.”
As detailed in a recent press release, Crunchyroll now boasts “the world’s largest dedicated anime streaming library,” offering over 50,000 episodes across over 1,000 anime titles. Notably, the company’s recent milestone comes on the heels of a major branding initiative that introduced a modernized Crunchyroll logo along with a new color scheme that aims to “reflect the dynamic nature of anime.” As shown below, this refreshed color palette has been used in Crunchyroll’s marketing, along with a new font style that “blends classic and modern elements.” You can check it out below.

Crunchyroll-Featured Anime Like Solo Leveling & Demon Slayer That Have Attracted Millions Worldwide
Crunchyroll has achieved its current popularity by offering some of Japan’s greatest animated works – especially among the popular shonen demographic. In addition to the long-running One Piece anime, some of Crunchyroll’s most-watched series include Demon Slayer: Kimetsuno Yaiba, Dr. Stone, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen. Crunchyroll has also branched out into the world of anime production with its breakout hit, Solo Leveling, a collaboration between Crunchyroll partner company Aniplex and A-1 Pictures. Adapted from the web novel of the same name by Chu-Gong, this action-packed, high-energy fantasy follows the underdog monster hunter Jinwoo Sung as he rapidly evolves into one of the strongest warriors in his world through a mysterious program called “The System.” Season 1 premiered during the Winter 2024 anime season. The series has since been renewed for another season, scheduled to premiere later this year.
In addition to offering over 25,000 hours of streaming content, Crunchyroll also regularly hosts theatrical screenings of anime. Some of the company’s latest acquisitions include The Concierge and Trapezium, two recent releases from Production IG (Ghost In the Shell, Kimi ni Todoke) and CloverWorks (Spy x Family, Wind Breaker). Last month, Crunchyroll confirmed that these critically acclaimed titles would be screened for one day only in several different territories, including the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Australia. Back in April 2024, Crunchyroll also brought Spy x Family Code White – the first anime film in the hit Spy x Family franchise – to North American audiences for the first time.

Crunchyroll Expands Audience Through Sony Music Japan and Other International Expansion Activities
Crunchyroll is also exploring new ways to expand its audience. Last year, the company partnered with Sony Music Entertainment Japan (SMEJ) to add more than 3,300 anime music videos and concerts to its content collection. The streaming service also recently expanded its anime dub catalog with options for Tamil and Telugu tracks. Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini credits the company’s success to its international anime viewership, which has been growing rapidly year after year. “Today marks an exciting milestone not only for Crunchyroll, but for the entire anime industry,” Purini said. “It’s proof that the rich stories, characters, and experiences our partners create are resonating deeply with fans at record levels around the world.” As the number of people excited about anime continues to explode and the range of content continues to expand, we believe there has never been a better time to be an anime fan.”
