The latest installment of the Fushigi no Gensokyo series launches on PC via Steam on May 15.
Kodoani.com – Publisher Phoenixx and developer Aquastyle have announced that the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of the latest installment in the roguelike series Fushigi no Gensokyo (Touhou Genso Wanderer) titled Touhou Genso Wanderer -FORESIGHT- will be released on September 18 (September 19 in Japan). Phoenixx has also started streaming a trailer for the game.
The game was previously released on PC via Steam on May 15.
Aquastyle describes the game as follows:
“After being defeated in battle, Reimu Hakurei awakens in the looted Hakurei Shrine with no memory of recent events. With the help of Marisa Kirisame, Reimu sets out on a journey to regain her lost memories and save Gensokyo from destruction by an unknown enemy.”
The game will support English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese languages.
The previous game in the series, Fushigi no Gensokyo: Lotus Labyrinth, was released in July 2019.
Fushigi no Gensokyo 3 -The Tower of Desire-, the third installment in Aquastyle's RPG project, was released on the PlayStation Vita in Japan in June 2015. NIS America later released the game under the title Touhou Genso Wanderer in March 2017 in North America and Europe on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
Aquastyle also developed an updated version Fushigi no Gensokyo 3 -The Tower of Desire- Reloaded and released it for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan in December 2016. Mediascape later released the game on Nintendo Switch in Japan in December 2017. NIS America released the game as Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded as a download for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in North America and Europe in July 2018. A PC version via Steam was also released in October 2018.
The Touhou series began with the first game Touhou: Highly Responsive to Prayers released by Team Shanghai Alice in 1995 on the PC-98 platform. Since then, the series has grown with many mainline titles, spin-offs, and fan-made derivative works based on the characters and stories in the series.
