Kodoani.com – Itaru Bonnoki is preparing to return to the famous manga The Vampire Dies in No Time (Kyūketsuki Sugu Shinu) after a long hiatus. Information is magazine Weekly Shonen Champion by publisher Akita Shoten revealed on Thursday.
Back in October 2023, Bonnoki announced that he had been diagnosed with the condition ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF), a serious condition that causes the ligaments in the spine to thicken, leading to the risk of nerve damage. The author has to deal with persistent back pain for months and is expected to undergo a difficult surgery as the condition affects sensitive areas in the body.
Previously, the manga went on an indefinite hiatus in May 2023, after a short hiatus from March to April of the same year. Bonnoki has had to stop working many times in recent years, mainly due to health problems.
The Vampire Dies in No Time first released on Weekly Shonen Champion in June 2015. Akita Shoten published the manga's 25th compiled book volume in May 2023, shortly before the series went on hiatus. The manga tells humorous adventures revolving around Draluc, an immortal but extremely “dissolving” vampire, and Ronaldo, a vampire hunter with many talents and many quirks.
The manga was adapted into an anime with the first season released in October 2021, consisting of 12 episodes. The second season continued in January 2023.
