Kodoani.com – Idea Factory International announced on Thursday that they will release Date A Live: Ren Dystopia, a game based on the Date A Live novel series by Koushi Tachibana, worldwide on PC via Steam in 2024. The release event will include two audio-only movies (“Tsumi’s Encounter” and “Origami Friendship”) plus a short novel (“Ren Masques”) special for the Deluxe Edition. The company posted the opening clip:
Compile Heart launched the game in September 2020 for PlayStation 4 after a delay from summer 2019, with the company citing “various circumstances” as the cause of the delay.
The game’s story begins on an ordinary night, when Shido dreams of a voice speaking from the deep darkness. When he woke up in the morning, he noticed a box decorated with a zigzag pattern next to the bed. At first, he thought it was a joke and discussed it with everyone, but a special event happened when he opened it.
Koushi Tachibana, the author of the light novel series, introduced the story in March 2011 with illustrations by Tsunako. The final volume of the light novel was published in March 2020 by Kadokawa’s Fantasia Bunko imprint. Yen Press is publishing an English version of this light novel.
The light novel has been adapted for many other manga and video games. Date A Live: Ren Dystopia promises to bring players into a world full of impressions and adventure, inheriting the creative spirit from the original inspiration.
