Jujutsu Kaisen’s stage show has been renewed for the second performance.
According to Crunchyroll, the live stage adaptation of Gege Akutami’s popular manga has announced a sequel show, scheduled to run in Hyogo and Tokyo, Japan from December 2023 to January 2024. This new series will cover the events in the story “The Goodwill Event in Kyoto”, in addition to the episodes “The Origin of Blind Obedience”. Former stars Ryuji Sato, Kazuaki Yasue and Ryosuke Miura will reprise their roles as Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro and Satoru Gojo, who appear in the newly released teaser image. The first stage performances of Jujutsu Kaisen took place in July and August 2022 at the Galaxy Theater in Tokyo and Mielparque Hall in Osaka, respectively.
The “Kyoto Goodwill Event” section of Jujutsu Kaisen chronicles a fierce competition held between Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High School, designed to test the mettle and skills of students by pitting themselves against one another. together. Jujutsu Kaisen’s second film will have the same director team as its predecessor, with Kohei Kiyasu and Kensaku Kobayashi returning as writer and director respectively. While most of the main cast has returned, Nobara Kugisaki has been reprising, with Nonoka Yamaguchi taking over the role from Erika Toyohara. Yamaguchi is known for her roles in the television series High and Low and the live-action film adaptation of Kaoru Tada’s popular manga Itazura Na Kiss.
Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. The series now has an active following worldwide, with over 80 million copies in circulation. MAPPA’s popular anime adaptation has received rave reviews from its fan community, who voted Season 2’s “Where Our Blue Is” theme song as the best OP of the Summer 2023 anime lineup. The franchise’s prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, also made waves at the box office in 2021, grossing more than $34 million domestically and more than $132 million worldwide. Akutami’s manga is still ongoing, with Chapter 235 scheduled to premiere on September 8.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is currently available in English on VIZ Media, with new chapters added shortly after its release in Japan. The anime series is available now on Crunchyroll.
