This mother said she was only available on Wednesdays and sent an address asking the restaurant manager to arrange for an interview with her son at home.
Parents who always love and care for their children are certainly indisputable. However, worrying over the limit can make parents go to extremes, their children will also gradually become dependent and lack independence.
Recently, a Chinese restaurant manager shared with Sin Chew Daily – the leading Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia – about his “wretched” recruitment story.
Specifically, after posting recruitment information for her restaurant, she received a message from a middle-aged woman. At first, she thought this woman wanted to find a job, but after chatting she discovered that this was a mother who was looking for a job for her child.
The mother kept asking her about salary and benefits, but never mentioned anything related to the job description.
When the manager offered to do an interview with the son, the mother then sent her home address.
“I patiently answered her questions about benefits and salary, but I was really shocked when she sent me her home address and asked me to go there for an interview,” she said.
“In this industry, you are bound to come across different types of people with different personalities. Although most of them have requests that make you unhappy, this is really the case that opened my eyes,” added the manager.
Ignoring the mother’s whimsical request, she said this is not a university program for parents to come out and find out in detail what their children will learn. You are looking for a job, you should ask about job responsibilities before asking about salary and benefits.
By the way, the manager also advises that you should find out the nature of the work that you will have to undertake before asking about what you will receive. This can save time for both you and the employer.
