Depending on how exactly the Copy, Transform, and Dual Quirks work, Monoma could theoretically turn the tide of the final battle against the villains.
Things take a turn for the worst in My Hero Academia. Himiko Toga’s Twice clones invaded the UA front and disrupted Neito Monoma’s focus; without Eraserhead’s erased copy of Quirk, Shigaraki caused severe damage to the flying fortress and caused it to crash to Earth. All of this looks bad, but it also offers an opportunity.
Now that Monoma is in physical contact with a clone of Twice, it raises the question of whether he can clone his Quirk. Alternatively, this could simply mean he’ll be copying Toga’s Quirk. Figuring this out will require an understanding of all the Quirks involved.
How does Monoma’s Copy Quirk work?
Monoma’s ability is Copy. He can copy Quirks of people he comes into direct contact with. This has led some fans to believe that he could theoretically duplicate the Double Quirk of one of the Clones twice. If that happens, then he can start multiplying endlessly to help counter the endlessly multiplying Twice clone army.
However, it may not be Twice’s Quirk that Monoma ended up copying. He might end up with Toga’s Transformation ability instead. If he did, then he wouldn’t be able to turn into Twice.
Monoma’s Quirk is mostly useless when it comes to Cumulative Type Quirks. He can copy Quirk, but he cannot use abilities that take time, accumulated energy, or strength to bring to their full potential. In the case of Transformation, he could theoretically transform into Twice and use his dual Quirk, but only if he meets the prerequisite of eating some of his health; which is the trigger condition for Transform. Since Toga drank the last drop of Twice’s blood, Monoma was unable to transform into Twice or use her Quirk.
The only way this could work is if Monoma could clone multiple Quirks coming from the same source. This seems to have been exposed when he tried to copy One For All, but that may not be the case. The only thing that he can’t clearly copy is the power of One For All because that power has been built and passed down through nine generations. Maybe he copied one of the other Quirks related to One For All, but didn’t think to try using it. If he thought about it and tried to do it with Toga’s copy of Twice, he’d probably end up copying Transform and Double.
However, it is very likely that Monoma will not be able to copy Twice’s Quirk. He can copy Toga’s Quirk, but it won’t do him any good unless he develops a preference for blood in the near future. Once things settle down, the Heroes will likely have to find another way to deal with Twice’s army.
