It didn’t take long for modders to start tinkering with the demo for Resident Evil 4 Remake and now, they have brought Shrek into this game.
Even before Resident Evil 4 Remake officially launched, someone took the demo and added everyone’s favorite elf, Shrek, to the game. While Capcom’s long-running horror title is largely considered one of the scariest games of all time, that doesn’t mean fans can’t have fun with these small changes. Even the darkest and most violent releases will not escape the hands of the prime modding community.

When it was released not too long ago, it didn’t take long for people to start changing the demo of Resident Evil 4 Remake. A recent example makes this beta last indefinitely by removing time and kill limits, allowing players to effectively keep shooting at villagers for as long as possible. Although the demo is pretty short, people obviously want to get as much out of it as possible and that sometimes involves a bit of tweakability.

As discovered by Destructoid, Nexus Mods user, Iven, has given the horror game community what they wanted most: Shrek inside the Resident Evil 4 Remake demo. Replacing Dr. Salvador, aka Chainsaw Man, Shrek poses a much bigger threat than fans are used to seeing in his films. One video shows players going through a demo, where everything seems so normal, until midway through they encounter a green monster wielding a chainsaw. What’s pretty scary about this clip is that Shrek’s expression looks lifeless as he lunges at Leon and tries to decapitate him.
Chainsaw Man is easily one of the most popular enemies in the original Resident Evil 4, in part because he appeared so early in the game. Where players often expect to be immersed in a story, even a horror story, RE4 removed the second and third installments in the series by stuffing a lot of things into the player before they really get used to the controls. Seeing a fearsome enemy disguised as another friendly character is both amusing and eerie.
