Spy x Family has revealed the exciting opening scene for Season 2.
The official website for CloverWorks and Wit Studio’s hit anime announced a non-opening version of the series on October 4. The colorful, energetic sequence features a new opening theme song of the series, “Kura kura”, performed by Ado. Maasaki Yuasa, a respected animator who previously directed hits such as Inu-oh and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, both wrote and directed the new opening of Spy x Family. The first broadcast of Spy x Family Season 2 is scheduled to take place on October 7. Crunchyroll will stream the series for viewers outside of Japan.
The past few weeks have been filled with Season 2 updates for Spy x Family fans. Last month, CloverWorks and Wit Studio released a new trailer teasing the further misadventures that await the Forger family. The studios also revealed the opening and ending theme artists for Part 2. In addition to Ado, who became an international star thanks to his role as Uta in One Piece Film: Red, the Spy x Family soundtrack will feature featuring Vundy and Cory Wong, who performed the anime’s ending theme song, “Todome no Ichigeki.”
Adapted from Tatsuya Endo’s popular manga, Spy x Family is one of the most popular breakout films of 2022, attracting a large following both domestically and internationally. The anime tells the story of Agent Twilight, a spy dedicated to protecting his homeland, Westalis. To prevent civil war with the bordering nation of Ostania, Twilight devises an elaborate plan to reach the Prime Minister of Ostania, Donovan Desmond. He enrolls his energetic (and supernaturally empathic) adopted daughter Anya in the prestigious Eden Academy, where Donovan’s son also attends. As part of her cover, Twilight also married a woman named Yor, who happened to be an assassin. While working for world peace, the trio live their daily lives together as a happy and close-knit family.
In addition to Season 2, Spy x Family is preparing to release its first movie, Spy x Family Code: White. Directed by Takashi Katagiri (Bubble), the film has its own plot revolving around Anya’s attempt to win Eden Academy’s annual cooking competition. While searching for the principal’s favorite recipe, Anya accidentally causes a chain of events that seriously threaten world peace. The film is scheduled for release on December 22. Bandai Namco Europe is also developing a Spy x Family video game starring fan-favorite character Anya.
Spy x Family Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 7. The original manga is available in English on VIZ Media.
